Trigger Point Injection
Trigger point
injections (TPI) consists of injecting analgesia (e.g. lignocaine,
prilocaine, bupivicaine etc) directly into trigger points
of muscles were pain is present.
Trigger point therapy was first popularized by Dr Janet Travell,
and described by Dr Travell and Dr. Simons, it has since evolved
to include use biotherapeutic products such as antihomotoxic
remedies, saline solution, dextrose or hyalruonic acid as
alternatives to cortisone.
